her ability to interpret many musical styles makes her a highly sought-after talent in the city.
After completing a Bachelor of Music in voice at Wilfrid Laurier University, Laurel took a break to establish a career in the travel industry, but music kept calling her back. She returned to the scene in 2011, and has been making a name for herself ever since.
Laurel regularly records and tours, both Ontario and internationally, with Canadian reggae legend Jason Wilson and his band Ashara. Stream their latest album here. She also performs with Tommy Youngsteen, a 12-piece classic rock super-group, performing covers of artists like Paul Simon, The Band, CCR and Tom Petty. Laurel also regularly sings at Ripley’s Aquarium with a talented jazz quartet, giving you everything from Stevie Wonder to Frank Sinatra, Bruno Mars to Esperanza Spalding.
From January to mid-March 2020, Laurel was delighted to be the Artist-In-Residence at the world-famous New York Bar in Tokyo, Japan, singing her favourites from the Great American Songbook six nights per week.
Other credits include Hillside Festival as both an individual and group artist, recording and performing with the Culchahworks Arts Collective, Julian Taylor Band, the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, the Elora Festival Singers, Secret Broadcast and various commercials and films as a background singer.
